The Bluffs of Flagstaff was thrilled to announce a heartwarming celebration in honor of Mr. Wally H., one of its cherished residents, who turned 99 years old this June.
Wally’s Miracle Moment event took place on Sunday, June 9, in the private dining room and featured love, family, and sweet surprises.
Connie Sutton, the assisted living Activities Director at The Bluffs of Flagstaff, organized a delightful afternoon for Wally, who loves chocolate and sweets. The family took advantage of the private dining room and steakhouse on-site for this celebration.
“We had 25 to 30 guests, including Wally’s dog as a surprise,” explained Connie with a smile. “Wally likes all kinds of sweets, especially chocolate. I decided to recreate a vintage-style candy store called Wally’s Sweet Shop. There were cute displays and jars filled with candies, Wally’s favorites.”
The team also contacted local chocolate stores in town to see if they wanted to participate in the fun. Wally’s daughter brought cupcakes, and The Bluffs of Flagstaff’s culinary team made finger sandwiches, fruit trays, and veggie trays.
“This celebration was a fun way to honor Wally and show him how much he means to us here at The Bluffs,” said Andy Auteri, Executive Director. “Wally’s favorite thing in the world is his family, and having them here for his 99th birthday meant so much to him. He is well-deserving of this celebration, and we were excited to help make it happen.”
One of the celebration’s highlights was the reunion between Wally and his beloved dog, which he had not seen in a while. Wally’s deep affection for his family and furry friend made this reunion particularly meaningful, creating an atmosphere of joy reflecting his love for The Bluffs of Flagstaff, a place he proudly calls home.
