StoneCreek of Flying Horse, a senior living community in Colorado Springs, created a special miracle moment for resident, Dr. Bill P., at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17 at the South Shore Marina in Lake Pueblo.
Bill is a retired pediatric cardiologist. When he was younger, his hobby was sailing. He used to sail in the Long Island Sound and off the coast of Massachusetts.
His parents purchased a custom-made sailboat for him when he was younger. He and his wife enjoyed the sport as well with their own boat for many years. Bill was a part of the racing one-design class.
“He has many nice sailing stories and is part of the armchair sailing club,” shares Community Relations Director, Debra Maddox. “He even brought out his North Sail belt and proudly wore it for the race-watching Newport to Bermuda thrash to the onion patch 2022 race.”
Knowing his love for sailing, Debra contacted the Lake Pueblo Sailing Club. A boat owner there agreed to take Dr. P. and his lady friend, Harriet W.(who also lives at StoneCreek of Flying Horse), on a sailboat ride on Wednesday, August 17 from the South Shore Marina in Lake Pueblo. The name of the boat is the Decadence.
Dr. P. turned 95 years old in early September.
“This is something that StoneCreek of Flying Horse calls a Miracle Moment,” adds Debra. “Something on your bucket list that you would like to do one more time. We are in the business of making happy memories.”
