Nathan Bowyer is Chief Information Officer at Civitas Senior Living, where he is in charge of the Information Technology (IT) department — the department responsible for all the technology needs of the home office and for most Civitas communities. His primary responsibility as CIO is to help set technology strategy and priorities for the company, or what Civitas pursues and when. He also ensures the IT department has the resources it requires to serve the needs of the company.
Nathan has been in the IT field since 2002. He began his career at 1stel as a developer, eventually going on to architecting and implementing their public/private cloud. In 2016, he co-founded Seredan Design, where he built and lead the team that produced the Anvault Secure Gateway appliance for businesses. It wasn’t until he joined Civitas in 2018 that he discovered his passion for bringing innovation to senior living through the use of technology. Nathan believes that technology holds the key to solving many of the world’s problems and that in senior living there is tremendous opportunity to significantly impact lives through technological advancements. He is constantly looking for new ways to bring joy to our residents through the use of technology.
Nathan graduated from Southwestern Adventist University with a BA in Business Administration. He is a sponsor and mentor for The Shoulders of Giants, a STEM education non-profit organization in Dallas that works to provide extracurricular STEM resources to interested students in middle school through college. When he’s not helping Civitas push senior living to the next level of technological advancement, Nathan enjoys being with his family and experimenting with promising new technologies like machine learning.
