Wayne’s dedication to senior care was kindled early in life, having been raised by his grandparents. From his high school years to the present, he has been unwavering in his commitment to establishing vibrant, supportive communities for older adults.

Today, as we commemorate over a decade of service, Civitas stands as a testament to the love and dedication permeating our local senior living communities nationwide.

Founded in 2012, Civitas Senior Living stands as a beacon of what it means to create exceptional living experiences for older adults in memory care, assisted living, and independent living communities.

This Texas-owned and operated company began with a simple yet profound mission: to provide seniors with a place that feels truly like home, inspired by the founders’ family values and experiences.

From our inception, we’ve built communities where seniors could live vibrant, fulfilling lives surrounded by care, respect, and love. This vision didn’t just stay within the borders of Texas. It propelled Civitas across state lines, expanding its warmth and unmatched care to local senior living communities in Oklahoma, Florida, Kentucky, Colorado, and Arizona.

While each community is unique, it shares the Civitas hallmark: local operators who understand their residents deeply. Our team fosters a sense of belonging and personalized care that’s hard to find elsewhere.

The expansion into these states reflects the reach of our mission and our commitment to providing more families with high-quality senior living options. We provide this elevated version of senior housing and a personalized level of care by partnering with local organizations that share our vision of passionate service, passionate cleanliness, and passionate care.

Local Partnerships

We believe in the power of partnerships. Over the years, we’ve teamed up with local organizations and programs to enhance lives in our assisted living communities. These agreements make us stand out in the senior living industry.

One unique partnership is with Southwestern Adventist University. At Elk Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care in Burleson, we’ve become an on-site clinical site for nursing program students. This program gives future senior living operators hands-on training with memory care and assisted living residents.

We’ve also recently collaborated with Select Rehabilitation in many of our communities. Together, we focus on resident-centered senior rehabilitation. This partnership means our residents are receiving:

  • On-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy services
  • Advanced system for fall-risk assessments to prevent falls and injuries through VSTBalance
  • On-demand and live senior wellness programs through Spiro100
  • Virtual reality technology enhances cognitive abilities and mental exercise with Mynd Immersive
  • Acceptance of various insurances, including Medicare, makes for easier access

Our commitment to memory care has led us to partner with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP). Our team receives continuous training to ensure we’re providing high-quality, person-centered care. This national accreditation highlights our dedication to excellence in memory care.

And who doesn’t love ice cream? We’ve teamed up with Blue Bell to bring their delicious ice cream to our communities. Blue Bell’s commitment to creating moments of happiness aligns perfectly with ours. It’s all about bringing smiles to our residents.

Lastly, our ongoing commitment to being a certified Great Place To Work® was recognized for the fifth consecutive year. We’re proud of this certification because it reflects the dedication to our team, which benefits our residents and the broader community.

It’s common to see caregivers who work closely with our residents rise to become Regional Directors daily. In fact, 35 of our 38 community Executive Directors were promoted from within. These empowered team members inspire seniors to live with passion.

Growing our leadership organically ensures that those at the helm have firsthand experience with the nuances of their community’s needs.
