Civitas Senior Living Promotes Three Executives
Reorganization of Leadership Team Facilitates Progress, Innovation
Fort Worth, Texas, Nov. 15, 2018 – Fort Worth-based Civitas Senior Living, a cutting-edge leader in the senior living business, is proud to announce the promotion of three of its executives as part of the company’s ongoing efforts to redefine and innovate the industry.
Greg Anderson, former Senior VP of Operations, Misty Miller, former Chief Wellness Officer, and Cooper Vittitow, former Chief Operating Officer, were promoted to Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and President, respectively.
“Civitas Senior Living has grown exponentially over the past six years, and, with that, our team of extremely talented people. These promotions represent a refining of roles by way of doubling down on each person’s strengths. This way, we can stay at the forefront of innovation in our industry while also maintaining the high standards we have previously set with our uniquely resident-centric approach,” said Wayne Powell, founder of Civitas.
Each executive promotion illustrates a focusing of, rather than a departure from, the individual’s current duties, he said. “We’re trying to stay ahead and keep an eye out for the future. We want to be proactive instead of reactive. That means change.”
Powell will remain CEO of Civitas and continue to oversee and guide the company on a day-to-day basis, with particular emphasis on the future. However, he will be passing on the title of president to Cooper Vittitow. “Cooper has long contributed above and beyond what was and is required of him. It’s time for his title to reflect that,” said Powell.
Vittitow has been an integral part of operations at Civitas for over six years. Going forward, he will still have much to contribute in the oversight of operations. Additionally, his new role as president will allow him to work more closely with Powell on initiatives focused on the future and innovation of the company.
Stepping into his previous role of COO is Misty Miller, formerly the Chief Wellness Officer of Civitas. “Misty has only been with us for five months and has already demonstrated skills and abilities far and above what we initially hired her for,” Vittitow said. Her move to COO represents the company’s move toward a more blended wellness and operations format, he said.
Miller is a registered nurse with over 17 years of experience in the health and wellness field, the majority of which has been in the senior living industry. “I’m looking forward to having a broader impact on how Civitas works beyond just wellness, and I’m excited about what the clinical background I’m bringing to this role could mean for the future of the company,” Miller said. Wellness is a key component of the resident-centric approach at Civitas and having an experienced wellness person as COO will make all the difference, she said.
Also moving up the ladder at Civitas is Greg Anderson. Previously, as Senior Vice President of Operations, Anderson was responsible for managing and coordinating with the company’s regional vice presidents of operations, as well as analyzing financial and consumer trends, implementing new policies across the board, and troubleshooting operational issues. Now, as Executive Vice President, Anderson will still have oversight of the regional operations team but will also develop and oversee special partnerships.
“Greg has held more positions at Civitas than any other executive. He is both extremely well-rounded and knowledgeable about our company and our industry. I can think of no one better to represent us as Executive Vice President than Greg,” Powell said. Anderson is excited that he will be able to spend more time on location at the properties. “I am originally from the community level, so I look forward to spending more of my time at the communities connecting with the residents and staff,” he said.
All three team leaders are looking forward to moving the company onwards and upwards in the senior living industry through their new roles. “At Civitas, our secret to success is all the great people we are blessed to have on our team,” Powell said. “Now that our leadership team is more appropriately organized according to their individual strengths and passions, we are ready to take Civitas and the senior living industry to the next level.”
